Former The Only Way Is Essex star Jake Hall died from a devastating chest injury caused by broken glass after a horrifying incident inside a rented villa in Majorca, according to investigators.

The 35-year-old reality star reportedly suffered fatal wounds after crashing into a glass door during an early-morning incident at a luxury villa in Santa Margalida, in the north of the Spanish island. Sources close to the investigation said the injury to his chest was believed to be the most severe wound and “most likely to have been fatal.”

Authorities say Jake had been partying with a group of friends throughout the night before returning to the £200-a-night property, where the situation allegedly spiralled out of control.

One source claimed witnesses told investigators that Jake became “agitated” and “turned aggressive,” allegedly attempting to harm himself by banging his head against objects before smashing through the glass door. The insider said police believe shards of broken glass caused the catastrophic injuries that ultimately killed him.

Spanish police have officially confirmed that Jake’s death is currently being treated as accidental. A Civil Guard spokesman stated: “There is nothing pointing to it being the result of a crime at this stage.”

An autopsy was due to take place in Palma, with additional toxicology tests expected to determine whether alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the tragedy. Investigators are also reportedly examining witness statements from several people who were inside the villa at the time.

Neighbours near the property described hearing loud noises during the night. One local resident told reporters they heard what sounded “like drilling” around 2am and even felt the walls vibrating for several minutes before everything suddenly went quiet.

Just days before his death, Jake had appeared excited about a new chapter in his life and creative career in Spain. Two weeks earlier, his art gallery, Son Buga Studios, proudly shared photos of his first sculpture installed in Mallorca, writing: “Jake’s first sculpture in Mallorca – where all this creative feelings where born.”

The heartbreaking tragedy has left fans stunned, especially after one of Jake’s final interviews resurfaced in which he described his daughter as “the only reason he’s still alive.”

Jake leaves behind his daughter River and her mother, Misse Beqiri, as tributes continue to pour in from friends, fans and former colleagues across the UK entertainment world.

The Sun has claimed police found the reality star with fatal head wounds while at a Spanish holiday villa after a night out partying. The inquiry found that Jake smashed his head through a glass door.

Jake, who shares his eight-year-old daughter, River Bella Hall, with his ex-partner and Ladies of London star Misse Beqiri, shared a post alongside his little girl just hours before the tragic news.

He penned: “Life is [expletive] sometimes but I’m gonna try remember the good things – looking through things – I’m just making art – in many forms.”

The words were penned alongside a video of Jake and River dancing, as well as clips of the model creating art and dressed smartly in suits.

HELLO! has reached out to Jake’s representatives for comment.  Officers were called to the rented house in Santa Margalida in the north of the holiday island at around 7.30 am on Wednesday morning.

An FCDO spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.” Investigations into the exact circumstances of what happened are still ongoing.

Jake found fame on ITV’s The Only Way is Essex alongside his ex-girlfriend, Chloe Lewis, after joining the reality show together in 2015. The on/off couple were together for eight years, but called it quits in the series 17 finale of TOWIE back in 2016.

Touching tributes

The mother of his child, Misse, has released a statement via her representatives, reading: “At this time, Misse’s focus is on supporting and protecting their child as they come to terms with this devastating loss… The family ask for privacy, compassion and respect while they grieve privately.”

The Only Way Is Essex also paid tribute in a statement, which read: “Jake was a part of the TOWIE family for a number of years and we send our very deepest sympathies to his family and friends following today’s very sad news.”

Tributes have also been pouring in for Jake in the comments section of his heartbreaking final Instagram post. DJ Fat Tony penned: “Devastating news we Love you @jakehall such an awful loss to the world you beautiful man x.”

“Rest In Peace, Jake! keep dancing up there!” one person penned. A second added: “I’m so sad! Ur poor little girl and your dad and family I’m sending so much love to u all x.” Meanwhile, a third penned: “Heartbreaking. RIP Jake.”

Jake’s life away from TOWIE

Following his departure from TV, Jake enjoyed a career in menswear. He first launched clothing brand Prevu, which was beloved by celebrities including Bella Hadid and Romeo Beckham.

After the brand went into administration in 2022 when JD Sports Fashion sold it to Frasers Group, Jake opened up about the emotional impact the experience had on him, explaining that it had changed the way he does business.

He said: “After my previous corporate partnership deal, I no longer hold any ownership in the brand I founded and put my life and soul into. I’m going to come back mainly to show anyone who is going through something similar in any way that we don’t give up.”

The TV entrepreneur went on to found a new label called By Jake Hall, which was even worn by Sir David Beckham. Jake also branched out into music, releasing singles as part of a band called Yours Collective alongside Sonny Hall,  singer Maverick Sabre and producer New Machine.
