David Beckham has offered a glimpse into life behind the headlines after a bruising family week, sharing a light-hearted exchange with son Romeo Beckham as Manchester United edged Arsenal 3–2 at the Emirates.
The former United winger took to Instagram to celebrate the dramatic win, posting throwback images from his playing days – including his famous halfway-line strike against AFC Wimbledon – and playfully asking, “You ok Romeo,” punctuated with love hearts. The teasing carried extra bite given Romeo’s long-standing loyalty to Arsenal.

The post landed just days after David’s eldest son Brooklyn Beckham unleashed a six-page Instagram statement accusing his parents of controlling the media narrative and trying to damage his marriage to Nicola Peltz Beckham. Brooklyn said he did not want to reconcile, and sources suggest contact between the parties has since ceased.
Despite the rift, David’s bond with Romeo appears intact. The 23-year-old, the only Beckham child to pursue professional football, has represented Arsenal’s academy and later joined Inter Miami before turning out for Brentford B. And while he took the ribbing in good spirits, Romeo fired back online by sharing the Premier League table – Arsenal 12 points clear – with a wry warning: “Don’t get too gassed. Mind the gap.”

David doubled down with another celebratory snap from his United days, invoking Sir Alex Ferguson’s famous phrase about late-season tension, noting that the gap is “getting smaller” – a nod to United’s momentum under Michael Carrick after notable wins over title rivals.
Behind the football banter, the exchange read as something more intimate: a public smile during a private storm, and a subtle reminder that even amid family fracture, some lines of connection remain open.
