“I Was Rebuffed!” — Susanna Reid Drops Shock Live TV Bombshell About Piers Morgan’s Hospital Snub

Susanna Reid reached out live on Good Morning Britain on Monday morning to her former co-host Piers Morgan, after revealing he had politely rebuffed her offer of a hospital visit following a painful fall that left him needing major surgery.

Piers, 60, was rushed to hospital last week after breaking his hip during a stumble inside a London hotel restaurant. The broadcaster later shared images from his hospital bed on Instagram, alongside an X-ray of the injury, explaining that he fractured the neck of his femur and required a full hip replacement.

Doctors have reportedly warned that his recovery could take up to three months, with long-haul travel ruled out for at least 12 weeks as he undergoes rehabilitation.

Addressing the situation live on air alongside co-hosts Ed Balls and Kate Garraway during a segment on Blue Monday, Susanna reassured viewers that Piers was in good spirits. She said it had not been a great start to the day for their “good friend Piers Morgan,” but added that he was recovering well in hospital after receiving his new hip.

She went on to wish him well, noting that he would likely remain in hospital for a few more days before beginning the long road to recovery. With a smile, she summed up the incident as involving “a restaurant, a stumble, and a whole new hip,” before sending her best wishes.

Susanna also revealed she had offered to visit him in hospital bearing gifts, but joked that her offer was turned down. She explained that she had suggested turning up with grapes, only for Piers to tell her he already had enough to open a vineyard — leaving her “rebuffed.”

The pair famously fronted Good Morning Britain together until Piers’ dramatic exit in 2021, following controversial remarks about Meghan Markle that saw him walk out of the ITV studio. Since then, he has carved out a new broadcasting career with his own show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, now streamed online.

Following his injury update, Piers was flooded with well-wishes from friends and colleagues. Lorraine Kelly teased him affectionately, while Amanda Holden joked that his injury might give his wife a break for a few weeks. Others, including Eamonn Holmes and Nick Ferrari, shared messages mixing sympathy with humour — a tone very much in keeping with Morgan’s own public persona.
