Kelly Ripa Tells ‘Live’ She’s “Happy” For Short People Like Her and Mark Consuelos After Learning They Live Longer: “We’re Like the Small Dogs of the Human World”

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos shouted out those who are “vertically challenged” on Thursday’s Live with Kelly and Mark.

Consuelos, who is reportedly around 5′ 8″, began to read about “four health benefits of being short” alongside his fellow petite co-host.

“Short kings, rejoice!” Consuelos read.

Ripa asked, “What about short queens?”

Consuelos said, “Short queens, rejoice!”

After Consuelos read that the average U.S. man “stands at 5 feet, 9 inches tall, while women average 5 feet, 3.5 inches,” Ripa teased, “I’m tall.”

Consuelos clarified, “You’re average.”

Citing data from the National Center for Health Sciences, Consuelos read that among the health benefits for shorter people listed by are “lower cancer risk,” a lower likelihood for blood clots, and increased longevity.

Ripa teased, “It’s like having a small dog. We’re like the small dogs of the human world.”

The co-hosts agreed that “there’s not that much space” for blood to be pumped around smaller bodies.

“Good for us,” Ripa said. “You know what? I’m happy for us.”

“Finally,” Consuelos quipped.

Ripa was reminded of flying out to California, where as she was placing her bag in the overhead compartment, the flight attendant told her that she’s “much taller in person than [she is] on TV.” However, the woman traveling with Ripa begged to differ.

“And I was like, ‘Yes I am, thank you!’” Ripa continued. “And I was wearing sneakers, so I really felt fully unfurled.”

Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays. Check out their website for your local listings.
