Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes might be best known for his rocket arm and Super Bowl heroics, but at home, he’s got a far softer role — bedtime storyteller. And this week, fans were treated to an especially heartwarming glimpse into the Mahomes household when Patrick welcomed the youngest member of the family, 5-month-old Golden Raye, into the nightly storytime tradition.
In a video posted to wife Brittany Mahomes’ Instagram, the Mahomes’ nursery was filled with warmth, laughter, and the soft lilt of a beloved children’s book as Patrick read aloud to his three children — daughter Sterling Skye (3), son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon III (2), and now baby Golden Raye, who appeared to be completely enchanted by her father’s voice.
Golden, nestled in Brittany’s lap in pastel pajamas, cooed and kicked her feet excitedly during the reading of “Goodnight Moon”, a Mahomes household favorite. At one point in the video, Patrick gently paused to glance at his infant daughter with a smile and said, “Golden, are you listening now too?” Sterling giggled beside him and chimed in, “She wants Daddy to read more!”
Fans couldn’t get enough.
The clip quickly racked up hundreds of thousands of views across social media, with comments flooding in calling the scene “Disney-level adorable,” “the definition of girl-dad goals,” and “a touchdown of tenderness.”
Golden’s Storytime Debut

Though Golden Raye was born in December 2024, this marks her “official debut” in the Mahomes bedtime tradition — a moment that has clearly delighted her older siblings.
“She’s starting to react to his voice now,” Brittany captioned the post. “She watches every word he says, and it’s the sweetest thing.”
In the video, Bronze can be seen clinging to his favorite stuffed football while Sterling leans against Patrick’s shoulder, listening intently as he reads with theatrical flair — complete with silly voices and dramatic pauses. Golden, meanwhile, gurgles and makes wide-eyed expressions as if following along.
It’s clear the Mahomes children are growing up in a house filled with love — and stories.

Patrick has previously spoken in interviews about how important family routines are to him, especially during the NFL offseason.
“I try to be there every night when I can,” he shared earlier this year. “No matter how chaotic things get, bedtime stories are a way we all reconnect. It started with Sterling, and then Bronze joined in, and now with Golden — it’s just something we all look forward to.”
For Brittany, these moments are just as cherished. “Seeing him go from quarterback to ‘storybook dad’ every night just melts me,” she said in a recent Q&A with fans. “He’s got this calming presence when he reads. The kids adore it. I do too.”
Fans React: “MVP of Dads”
Social media lit up with admiration after the video aired. Chiefs fans and parenting communities alike shared the post, praising Mahomes not only for his athletic greatness but also his dedication as a father.
“Patrick Mahomes is not just the MVP on the field — he’s clearly the MVP at home too,” one fan wrote on X. Another added, “That baby already knows she hit the daddy jackpot.”
Even fellow NFL players weighed in. Travis Kelce reposted the video with the caption, “Storytime with the — what a crew!”
More Sweet Moments to Come
With training camp approaching this summer, Patrick has made it clear that his role as “Dad” comes first when he’s off the clock. And with little Golden Raye now officially joining the family’s nightly storytime ritual, fans can expect even more touching glimpses into the life of the Mahomes family.
For now, though, the video serves as a perfect reminder that behind every touchdown and trophy, there’s a dad reading Goodnight Moon with his heart full — and three little ones hanging on every word.
