This morning on BBC Breakfast, weather reporter Carol Kirkwood revealed that she will be stepping away from her role on the morning show after 25 years of working at the broadcaster. The 63-year-old presenter shocked people with the news, shedding tears on the live show as she revealed her decision and thanked her colleagues and viewers.
Social media has been filled with heartfelt messages from people saddened by the news and many saying they will miss seeing her on their screens.
Former BBC Breakfast presenter, Dan Walker shared his well wishes to his former colleague as he explained that Carol is “just the same lovely person you see on the telly.”
In a touching tribute, the 5 News reporter wrote: “End of an era! I still get asked what Carol is like in real life and she is just the same lovely person you see on the telly.
“She was always so kind, generous and funny on and off screen and she will be hugely missed on BBC Breakfast
“Throw that alarm clock away Carol. Long may she reign.”
Carol will give her last weather report in April. She joined the BBC in 1998 and has been the main weather presenter on BBC Breakfast since 2010.
