“They were treated like royalty – we did nothing wrong”: Gordon and Tana Ramsay break their silence for the first time on the Adam Peaty family feud, denying all claims of disrespect

Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana Ramsay have spoken out for the first time about the bitter family rift that overshadowed their daughter’s wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty.

The celebrity chef, 59, insisted he and Tana had “done nothing wrong” and claimed Adam’s family were “treated like royalty” in the run-up to the lavish nuptials at Bath Abbey, despite claims from Adam’s parents that they were deliberately frozen out of the celebrations.

The wedding of Holly Ramsay and Adam was meant to be a joyful, star-studded affair. Instead, it was clouded by controversy after Adam’s parents were uninvited shortly before the big day, with the dispute spilling into the press and triggering a wave of speculation about what had really happened behind the scenes.

Breaking his silence, Gordon admitted the situation had been deeply upsetting. He said the criticism from Adam’s family felt “self-inflicted” and stressed that neither he nor Tana had shown any rudeness or disrespect. According to Gordon, the Ramsays had gone out of their way to make Adam’s parents feel welcome, even arranging a chauffeur-driven car to bring them to the engagement party.

He said the couple had been “very hurt” by what he described as a barrage of negative press, adding that Tana had taken the situation particularly hard. Gordon also revealed that he would consider travelling with Tana to Nottingham, where the Peaty family live, in an attempt to “draw a line in the sand” and move forward.

However, Gordon was clear that the decision to exclude Adam’s parents from the wedding was not his to make. He explained that it had been Adam and Holly’s wish, and that he and Tana felt obliged to respect their choice. In his words, there were “things they need to sort out as parents”, and he was keen to allow the newlyweds to focus on starting their life together without further drama.

Tana, 51, echoed her husband’s conciliatory tone, admitting she understood how painful family fallouts can be. Drawing on her own past experiences, she said there are “no winners” in such situations and stressed the importance of at least remaining civil. She added that ongoing conflict only breeds negativity and unhappiness for everyone involved.

The feud first became public when Adam’s mother, Caroline, skipped Holly’s hen do and later accused the Ramsays of being “insular”, even claiming her son was “in Gordon’s clutches”. Tensions escalated further when other family members spoke out, and reports emerged of alleged abusive messages sent to Adam in the lead-up to the wedding.

Despite the turmoil, Holly and Adam went ahead with their December 27 ceremony at Bath Abbey, with Adam’s sister Bethany attending as a bridesmaid. Emotional footage of Gordon breaking down in tears as he saw his daughter in her wedding dress quickly went viral, touching fans around the world.

Since then, the newlyweds have attempted to put the drama behind them, heading off on a luxurious honeymoon in Mauritius. Gordon later revealed that he and Tana were even invited to join the trip, but politely declined, insisting the couple should enjoy their first holiday together as husband and wife.
